WATER SAVING WORKSHOPS START THIS SATURDAY IN JOSHUA TREE

Xeriscaping, irrigation, and soil amendment in the desert can be confounding, but some upcoming free classes can help desert gardeners puzzle it all out. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has the details…

Joshua Basin Water District will host a series of winter water-saving workshops for desert gardeners planning to turn some soil this spring. The workshops will be held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon beginning January 18 at the Joshua Basin Water District in Joshua Tree. There are no prerequisites for the free classes but pre-registration is required by calling 760-821-5716. Workshops cover native plants and xeriscaping, irrigation design and troubleshooting, and water conservation and soil amendments.

  • February 8           Basic Drip Irrigation & Design
  • February 22         Irrigation Troubleshooting for the Homeowner

All workshops are 9 a.m. to noon; class supplies will be provided.
