With the recent rains in the Morongo Basin, some residents have reported spotting Desert Tortoises looking for water on or near roadways in the Morongo Basin. Joshua Tree National Park is reminding local motorists to be aware of tortoises while driving, hiking, and recreating in the National Park by following all posted speed signs throughout the park, checking under your car before driving off, and giving tortoises plenty of space if you see one.
