A fugitive wanted in Seattle, Washington, was arrested in Yucca Valley early this morning. According to a Sheriff’s Department press release, Deputy Yu was patrolling near Barron and Camarilla Avenues about 3:10 Wednesday morning when he came across a man with a backpack on a skateboard, who said he was looking for his cat. The man identified himself as Albert Skoczylas, 20. Deputies could not find his name listed in any database, and subsequent statements aroused the deputy’s suspicions. Additional deputies responded to the scene with a fingerprint scanner, and within minutes the man was identified as William Zappa, 21, of Seattle, Washington, who is a fugitive from Washington, with previous assaults that caused great bodily harm. William Zappa was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail where he is being held without bail pending extradition to Washington.
