WARMER WEATHER BRINGING SEASONAL CLOSURES TO JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

With the hot summer weather right around the corner, Joshua Tree National Park will soon be implementing its seasonal closures at the end of May. Park Ranger Pam Tripp joins us…
As the hot summer months approach, the demand for campsites at Joshua Tree National Park decreases, allowing certain campgrounds and portions of others to the closed. This provides an opportunity to improve impacted areas and reduce the cost of maintaining these facilities.
Closures include Belle and Ryan Campgrounds in their entirety.
Partial campground closures include Black Rock on the eastern side; One loop at Cottonwood; and Indian Cove on the western portion.
For those hearty summer campers, Jumbo Rocks, White Tank, and Hidden Valley will remain open.
All campgrounds should again be available for the October Columbus Day weekend.
Temperatures in the summer can reach over 100 degrees. Be prepared for the hot weather by having and drinking lots of water and plan safely for your camping adventure, as well as for any hikes you wish to do.
