WALMART HAS SOME ’SPLAININ’ TO DO TO THE STATE WATER BOARD TOMORROW

The Yucca Valley Walmart has some ’splainin’ to do when the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board meets at the Hi-Desert Water District office in Yucca Valley tomorrow (Thursday, June 14) at 9:30 a.m. Among items of local interest is a cease-and-desist order to Walmart in Yucca Valley. Walmart’s package treatment plant is discharging treated effluent that exceeds the standards for biochemical oxygen demand, total dissolved solids, and total suspended solids, and so, is in violation of the effluent limits for total coliform organisms in Yucca Valley. Walmart must submit technical reports to the control board outlining steps it intends to take to come into compliance.
