VISITATION AT COUNTY JAILS RESTARTS WEDNESDAY

Relatives and friends of inmates at San Bernardino County jails regain the ability to see their incarcerated loved ones in person starting this Wednesday (March 31), after visitation rights were suspended for over a year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Sheriff’s officials made an announcement Friday regarding plans to reinstate visitation rights at the county’s four detention facilities Wednesday through Saturday, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Appointments should be made by calling 909-887-0364 during the week visitors intend to stop by. They should arrive 30 minutes early to allow for check-in and screening. Visitors must wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times inside the jails. Inmates may receive up to two 30-minute visits with an adult each week. The risk of coronavirus infection remained “substantial” in San Bernardino County as of Sunday, according to local and state health officials. However, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 has fallen in recent weeks, and one out of every four San Bernardino County residents has received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
