Tonight, the lecture series sponsored by the Old Schoolhouse Museum in Twentynine Palms is delving in to the evolution of the America cocktail, so get out the martini shaker and enjoy this virtual event. Reporter Heather Clisby has details…
Just in time for the weekend, the Old Schoolhouse Lecture Series will take a more fermented approach to history with this Friday’s lecture entitled, “The Booze Brothers or Halfway to Concord: A Brief History of Alcohol in America.” Presented by the Desert Institute and the Twentynine Palms Old Schoolhouse Museum, the boozy lecture will take place on Friday, February 12, at 7 p.m. on your computer, tablet, or phone.
Led by Ellie Greenwood Kordas, a retired associate professor of American Studies and American Indian Studies, the virtual lecture will explore the history of alcohol in the New World, starting with pre-Columbian Mexico, then on to the US Colonies, through the years leading up to Prohibition, and on up to the happy hours of today.
Cost for the program is $5. Attendees can sign up in advance using the link below.
