A Joshua Tree man was arrested at gunpoint Sunday evening, accused of scaring her young children during a violent, drunken rampage. According to a Sheriff’s report, a woman called about 8 p.m. Sunday to report her boyfriend, identified as Richard Guzman, 32, was drunk and was hitting things in her house in the 500 block of Mockingbird Lane. She said he threw glass bottles of beer, yelled, kicked the door, broke her car’s window, and tore the blinds off the window, and made her young children cry, all while trying to find his car keys. During the altercation, Guzman sustained cuts to his arms that started bleeding. The woman took her young children and hid in the bathroom until deputies arrived. Deputies confronted Guzman at gunpoint, and he was arrested for investigation of cruelty to a child, booked at the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $100,000.
