VINTAGE WESTERN FILMED IN PIONEERTOWN TO BE SHOWN IN LANDERS TONIGHT

Tonight (June 23) the Morongo Basin Historical Society begins its monthly summer vintage film series, featuring movies that contain scenes filmed in Pioneertown and surrounding areas. Reporter Eric Knabe fills us in on tonight’s attraction…

The Morongo Basin Historical Society presents an evening of vintage westerns under the stars. The night begins with a half hour TV episode, “Vigilante Story” with Guy Madison and Andy Devine and then the Cisco Kid in the (1950) movie “The Girl from San Lorenzo,” with Duncan Renaldo as Cisco and Leo Carrillo as Pancho. A criminal gang has been robbing stagecoaches disguised as Cisco and Pancho. The MBHS will screen these vintage films outside, under the front portico at the museum, located at 632 Landers lane in Landers. The movies, popcorn and soft drink are $10 for members or $12 for non-members. Gates open this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Movies start at dark. Benches are provided or bring your own lawn chair.
