Victim identified in fatal Morongo Valley collision

The victim of a fatal traffic collision on Twentynine Palms Highway has been identified, and new details about the collision have been released by the California Highway Patrol.
On Thursday (January 29) at 5:35 am, the CHP says that the victim was walking within the #1 lane of westbound Twentynine Palms Highway east of Adeline Way in Morongo Valley. The CHP identified the victim as David Hill, a 62 year-old resident of Morongo Valley. The CHP says that a resident of Yucca Valley was driving a white Hyundai Sonata westbound on Twentynine Palms Highway, when the front of the Sonata collided with the victim. The CHP says that Hill was thrown into the eastbound lanes of Twentynine Palms Highway where he was struck by additional vehicles. Hill was pronounced deceased at the scene by Morongo Valley Fire Department.
The CHP says that they do not suspect alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision.
