Military veterans are encouraged to apply for a home to be built in Indio by Habitat for Humanity. In exchange for 200 hours of sweat equity, low-income, first-time home buyers with good credit and a steady income can qualify for a new, affordable home. Income requirements range from a low of $23,450 for a one-person family to $70,800 for an eight-person family.
