VEHICLE THEFTS AND BREAK-INS ON THE RISE, PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY

Vehicle thefts and break-ins are on the rise in the Morongo Basin. Hilary Sloane offers these tips from the Sheriff’s Department to reduce your risk of having your vehicle broken into or stolen…

Morongo Basin residents are being victimized lately by thieves who take advantage of opportunities to steal your car. The Sheriff’s Department reminds residents to lock their vehicles, close the windows, and never leave the keys inside, not even in the glove box or a coin tray. Don’t leave valuables where passers-by can see them. Don’t leave a remote control for your garage door inside your vehicle that’s parked outside of your garage. Lock your garage doors. Install a car alarm, tracking system, or anti-theft system. Anything you can do to make it harder to steal your vehicle will make it a less appealing target for thieves.
