VEHICLE FIRE SENDS SMOKE PLUME HIGH OVER YUCCA VALLEY

A vehicle fire in Yucca Valley scorched the eaves of two adjacent apartment buildings Sunday afternoon, but firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly. About 4 p.m. yesterday, an old, broken-down panel van caught on fire near Barron and Camarillo in the Paradise Valley area of Yucca Valley. The plume of smoke could be seen for miles. The van was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived. They were able to put out the fire in 5 to 10 minutes, and spent the next 15 to 20 minutes mopping up the blaze. The van was parked between two apartment buildings, and the buildings’ eaves were slightly scorched, but didn’t suffer any significant damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
