VANDALS CAUSE OVER A MILLION DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO SALT MINE

Vandals caused more than a million dollars’ worth of damage to a salt mining company east of Cadiz Sunday. About 6:30 a.m. Monday morning, deputies were called out to Chubbuck, a ghost town southeast of Cadiz, where Tetra Technologies Chemical Plant had been vandalized. Sometime Sunday, unknown suspects entered the property of the business and used a front-end loader to vandalize numerous pieces of equipment on the property. The suspects then tried to set the shop building on fire as well as the front-end loader. The company estimated the damages to be about $1.5 million. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-326-9200.
