USING JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

With one of the gems of the National Park system in our own backyard, there’s always something to do in the Morongo Basin. Ranger Pam Tripp tells how to be ready to do it at any time…

Sometimes we ask ourselves “What is there to do around here?” Well, if you can hear this Public Service Announcement, it means that you are close to one of the United States beautiful national parks. With over 76 years as a National Park site, Joshua Tree NP has almost 200 miles of paved road available for you to drive and view the wonderful scenery. If you wish to spend more time in the park, camping, hiking, rock climbing, and ranger programs are among the activities that many people may choose to participate in during a visit. Hot or cold, the park is open year round, with a fee of $15 for a 7-day vehicle pass, or $30 for the park’s annual pass. Keep in mind that the heat and cold can limit what a visitor should do while in the park. For up to date information about activities and safety recommendations, visit any of our three visitor centers or call 760-367-5500. For Z107.7, this is park ranger, Pam Tripp, inviting you to experience you American landscape.
