URINETOWN THE MUSICAL NOW PLAYING AT THEATRE 29

The first Broadway musical production of the Theater 29 2015 season opened last night and runs through March. Directed by Desert Theatre League “Best Director, Musical” Award winner Gary Daigneault, with musical direction by Ed Will, and choreography by Mandi Pushkar, “Urinetown the Musical” is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. Managing editor Tami Roleff says the audiences should not let the title fool them; the musical is not an indulgence in toilet humor…

“Urinetown the Musical” is a light and cerebral look at how greed and corruption on the highest levels impacts us all. Mirroring the headlines of today, a terrible water shortage—caused by a 20-year drought—has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company. But one man decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom. “Urinetown the Musical” at Theatre 29 runs through March 28, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m., with 2:30 p.m. Sunday Matinees March 8 and 22.

Tickets are $12 for regular admission, $10 for seniors and military, and $8 for children under 12 and students with ID. With some mild “Potty humor” it is suitable for children. Tickets may be ordered online at www.theatre29.org, or by calling the Theatre 29 Box Office at 760-361-4151.
