Updated 10/29: Victim identified in alleged hit-and-run that is being investigated as homicide

The victim killed in a suspected hit-and-run collision in Morongo Valley on Monday (October 27) has been identified. Members of the family confirmed to Z107.7 that 50 year-old Chris Garcia was killed in a pedestrian-versus-vehicle collision near the intersection of Senilis Avenue and Hess Boulevard at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday (10/27)

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has not officially released the name of the victim.

The California Highway Patrol said that the suspected hit-and-run is currently considered to have been an intentional act, and that a homicide investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department has not released any details about the investigation.

UPDATED 10/28/25 9:00 a.m.: The California Highway Patrol said that this incident appears to be intentional, and that the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the collision as a homicide.

A possible hit-and-run collision has left one person dead in Morongo Valley. A collision on Monday evening (October 27) at around 7:35 p.m. occurred near the intersection of Senilis Avenue and Hess Boulevard in Morongo Valley. 

Information from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says that this collision is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary information provided by the California Highway Patrol describes the possible hit-and-run collision as a vehicle versus pedestrian.
