Not since 2007 has San Bernardino County so thoroughly updated the countywide plan. Taking the 2007 plan—which had 404 goals and 1,704 policies—the county aimed to streamline and minimize redundancy.
After gathering and implementing ideas and feedback from 70 communities, draft documents have been released and posted on the website for public viewing. New search tools make it easy to locate specific information within the plan. Land use maps were also made user-friendly. Updated issues concerned new laws, land use, transportation and water supply, among others.
Come November, the county will release the draft Environmental Impact Report and there will be a 60-day public review and adoption hearings in 2019. To review the draft plan, visit countywideplan.com.
