A safety project has begun along the median of Highway 62 between Pioneer Drive/ East Drive and Fairway Drive, in Morongo Valley. The project will place class 1 delineators and restripe the median. The following are several turn pockets available to make legal and safe U-turns along the route: East Drive, Palo Verde, Big Morongo Canyon, Fobes Road, Bella Vista Drive, Desert Willow Trail, Rose Eden Drive, Samel Road/Peliz Road, Scholl Drive and Yucca Park Road. The purpose of the work is to minimize cross median traffic collisions and fatalities along the route. The scope of the work includes moving traffic control with east and west bound lane closures along Highway 62. The work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, August 2.
