The number of novel coronavirus cases in San Bernardino County ticked up by 198 Sunday to 7,359; no new deaths were reported. About 3.1 percent of patients confirmed to have COVID-19 have died from complications, for a total of 228 deaths, according to the county. By city, San Bernardino saw the biggest jump in confirmed cases, up by 32, to 1,165 on Sunday. Fontana and Ontario both saw cases rise by 25, to 788 and 683 respectively. Rialto saw the next highest jump, by 20, to 412.
Here in the Morongo Basin, there are 60 confirmed cases: Yucca Valley with 26, Joshua Tree 15, Twentynine Palms with 12, and Morongo Valley at 7.
The number of “recovered” patients was up by 48 to 4,492.
The amount of time it takes the number of confirmed cases to double remained the same as Saturday at 17.7 days, according to county health department data. That number rose from 13.4 days a month ago, and 6.8 days on April 14. PCR testing, the type that detects whether coronavirus is currently in the body, was up 1.7 percent from Saturday to 87,426, of which 8.4 percent have turned out to be positive. The latest data on hospitals, from June 10, showed hospitals were using just 3.1 percent of the 1,221 total surge capacity beds in the county.
