A unlicensed woman on a motorcyle suffered major injuries from a crash after leading CHP on a pursuit through the high desert.
This morning (November 2) at 6 a.m., an officer with the California Highway Patrol observed a 2008 Honda motorcycle travelling westbound on Twentynine Palms Highway near Shoshone Valley Rd in Twentynine Palms. The motorcyle was reportedly travelling well over the speed limit, and the CHP identified the rider as Valerie Valenciano, a 22 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms.
The CHP says the officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but Valenciano fled, increasing her speed to over 100 miles per hour. A pursuit ensued, and the CHP reports that she lost control of her motorcylce near Sunfair Rd, crashing into vehicles that had yielded to CHP vehicles.
The CHP reports that Valenciano’s crash resulted in major injuries to herself, and damage to her motorcycle and three other vehicles. She was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The CHP reports that Valerie Velenciano is an unlicensed driver, and is being charged with recklessly fleeing from police.
