TWO YUCCA VALLEY MEN ACCUSED OF SELLING STOLEN GENERATOR

Two Yucca Valley men were arrested Sunday, accused of trying to sell a generator they allegedly stole a few days earlier. According to a Sheriff’s report, on Friday, Christopher Browne, 36, and John Powers, 26, broke into a storage container at a construction site in the 64100 block of Hollinger Road in Joshua Tree and stole a generator, valued at $900. The report states that Browne and Powers attempted to sell the generator via an online website. On Sunday, about 1:30 p.m., deputies made contact with Browne and Powers at a convenience store near Kickapoo Trail and Highway 62 in Yucca Valley. A generator was found in the back of a truck and deputies determined the generator was the same one that had been reported stolen two days earlier in Joshua Tree. John Powers had warrants for his arrest for false identity, theft, possession of a controlled substance, and spouse abuse, from San Bernardino County and San Diego County. After an investigation, Christopher Browne and John Powers were arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property, and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail. Browne’s bail is set at $25,000; Powers’ bail is $100,000.
