TWO-VEHICLE CRASH INVOLVING DEPUTY PATROL CAR KILLS ONE IN YUCCA VALLEY SATURDAY MORNING

We have limited information about a crash involving a Sheriff’s deputy and another vehicle that killed one person. At 6:33 Saturday morning, the deputy’s patrol car and a white Honda crashed on Highway 62 and Richard Drive in Yucca Valley. County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle said the passenger in the Honda, identified only as a man in his late teens or early 20s, was killed in the crash. The driver of the Honda, also a man in his late teens or early 20s, received major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. The deputy had minor injuries. It’s not known at this time if the deputy’s patrol car had its emergency lights or sirens activated at the time of the crash. The investigation is still ongoing.
