TWO TWENTYNINE PALMS RESIDENTS ARRESTED AFTER A HIGH-SPEED CHASE

The Sheriff’s Department has corrected the driver’s name to Huot Hoa Kuot.

Two Twentynine Palms residents were arrested Sunday afternoon following a high-speed pursuit in the city. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the Tortoise Rock Casino about 1:30 p.m. for having an expired registration. The driver, later identified as Huot Hoa Kuot, 39, sped off at a high rate of speed. After about two miles, Kuot lost control of his vehicle and it rolled over in the 74900 block of Rocky Road in Twentynine Palms. Kuot and his passenger, Cori Aragon, 31, both fled the vehicle, but were taken into custody by deputies after a short foot pursuit. Huot Hoa Kuot was arrested for investigation of felony evading, and for outstanding arrest warrants for possession of stolen property, and possession of methamphetamine; he was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000. Cori Aragon was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and on a felony warrant for welfare fraud, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $25,000.
