TWO TWENTYNINE PALMS RESIDENTS ACCUSED OF CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY

Two Twentynine Palms residents were arrested Thursday afternoon, accused of various felony crimes. On Monday, March 18, Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 73000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway for a report of a vehicle burglary. When Deputies arrived, they found that the windows on the victim’s vehicle had been broken and that her purse had been stolen. That same day, the suspects attempted to use the victim’s credit card at a business in Twentynine Palms. Deputies obtained video surveillance of a male suspect breaking into the victim’s vehicle and a male and female suspect attempting to use the stolen credit card. On March 21, a Deputy observed and contacted Martin Perez, 35, of Twentynine Palms and Mariah Trujillo, 26, of Twentynine Palms during a routine patrol near Rock Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway. Perez and Trujillo matched the descriptions of the suspects captured on surveillance. After the contact, Martin Perez was arrested for investigation of criminal conspiracy and burglary, and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000. During the contact, Trujillo reportedly provided false identification to the officer. Mariah Trujilo was arrested for investigation of giving a false identification to a deputy, criminal conspiracy, and for a no-bail warrant, and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with her total bail set at $75,000.
