Two Twentynine Palms men were arrested Friday after they started a fight with a store clerk who refused to sell them beer. According to a Sheriff’s report, Birkinshaw Boyden, 23, and Aswad Jackson, 26, went to a convenience store in the 73400 block of 29 Palms Highway about 8:30 p.m. to buy beer. When the clerk refused to sell them beer, he said Jackson began yelling at him, throwing items at him, and punched him several times in the face, possibly breaking his nose. When deputies arrived, Jackson and Boyden were outside, pounding on the store’s window and still yelling at the employee, but when they saw the deputies they started sauntering away. When the deputies told the suspects to stop, Jackson and Boyden refused to stop and began yelling at the deputies. The deputies caught up to the men and one deputy hand-cuffed and escorted Boyden to the patrol car. Boyden then began kicking the door to the patrol car. Birkinshaw Boyden was arrested for investigation of resisting arrest and misdemeanor battery. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $25,000. Aswad Jackson was arrested on suspicion of felony battery causing serious injury, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $100,000.
