A man and woman were seriously injured, and another woman minorly injured in a traffic collision in Twentynine Palms Friday morning. According to CHP reports, about 9:45 a.m., Valerie Jean-Louis, 31, of Twentynine Palms was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on Indian Trail approaching the intersection with Lear Avenue. Meanwhile, David Gerczak, 68, of Twentynine Palms was driving a 2001 Ford F150 with passenger Laila Gerczak, 68, of Twentynine Palms southbound on Lear Avenue approaching the same intersection. According to the report, Jean-Louis failed to stop at the posted stop sign and traveled into the intersection, crashing into the left side of the Ford. The Chevrolet came to rest on its wheels in the open desert and the Ford overturned and came to rest on its roof in the open desert. All drivers and passengers were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. David and Laila Gerczak were transported with major injuries, and Valerie Jean-Louis was transported with minor injuries. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the collision, the California Highway Patrol is investigating.
