Theatre 29 will present two performances of Agatha Christie’s mystery, “The Mousetrap,” today. Because many of the cast members will be attending the Desert Theatre League awards show Sunday night, there will not be a matinee performance Sunday afternoon; instead, there will be performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. today. Reporter Rebecca Havely fills us in on the world’s longest running play…
The world’s longest running play, “The Mousetrap” is the tale of a group of strangers, stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm, one of whom is a murderer. The suspects include the newly married couple who run the house; a spinster with a curious background; an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef; a retired Army major; a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift; and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. Into their midst comes a policeman, traveling on skis. He no sooner arrives, when the jurist is killed. The policeman probes the background of everyone present, and rattles a lot of skeletons.
Tickets are $10 to $15, and are available at Theatre29.org or by calling the box office at 760-361-4151.
