TWO PASSENGERS EJECTED IN HIGH SPEED CHASE IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Sheriff Deputies are searching for a man who ejected two passengers during a high-speed pursuit on dirt roads early Sunday morning in the Desert Heights area of Twentynine Palms. About 12:30 a.m., a deputy attempted to pull over a white Toyota 4 Runner on Lear Avenue for speeding. Sheriff’s Sergeant Rick Millard told Z107.7 News that the driver led deputies on dirt roads toward the mountains in the Desert Heights area, then back toward the Sugar Bowl. During the pursuit, the driver kicked two female passengers out of the vehicle and left them in the desert. After the driver hit a fire hydrant east of the Sugar Bowl and destroyed his vehicle, he fled into the desert. Sergeant Millard said deputies called off the pursuit because of the danger to both the driver and themselves.
