Two Morongo Basin businesses were broken into early Monday morning. Just before 4 a.m., a security system caught a man prying open the front door to Joshua Tree Health Foods on the highway in downtown Joshua Tree. Once inside, the man stole two computers, a laptop, and a flash drive; an iPad, and an iPhone. Then about 4:45 a.m., a security system at the Morongo Fruit Market on the highway in Morongo Valley caught a man prying open the door and entering the store. Nothing appears to have been stolen at this location. While it’s not confirmed that the same man burglarized both stores, the suspect in both burglaries is identified as a black man, 20 to 35 years old, with facial hair and wearing a hooded jacket. The Morongo Fruit Market surveillance video showed him getting into a black SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee, and heading toward Desert Hot Springs. Anyone with information about either burglary should call Deputy Rodriguez at 760-366-4175.
