TWO MEN ARRESTED IN STOLEN CAR IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Two men were arrested Sunday afternoon when they were found in a stolen car. According to a Sheriff’s report, a woman in the 5800 block of Bagley Avenue in Twentynine Palms called police Saturday evening to notify them that Lawrence Casas had borrowed her car but had not returned it, nor was he returning her phone calls. About 3:20 p.m. Sunday, the deputy saw the car being driven on Highway 62 near Trojan Way and stopped the vehicle. Inside he found Jacob Klausing, 19, driving the car, with Casas in the passenger seat. The report states Klausing began asking Casas why they were in trouble, to which Casas admitted to him he stole the car. Casas then allegedly told the deputy it only took the police three days to find him. Lawrence Casas was arrested on suspicion of embezzlement, and on a warrant and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $75,000. Jacob Klausing was arrested on two warrants, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
