TWO MEN ARRESTED AFTER TODDLER FOUND ALONE IN JOSHUA TREE

Updated August 11:

Two men were arrested Tuesday evening in Joshua Tree, accused of leaving a young child alone and then fighting with the friends of the person who reported them. According to a Sheriff’s report, a neighbor called about 7:30 p.m. to report a child, estimated to be 4 or 5 years old, had been left alone at a home in the 6900 block of Hill View Road. The girl was in the front yard and was crying, according to the report. While the deputy was at the home, the girl’s mother arrived home and told deputies she had gone to Walmart and had arranged for William Catlett, 47, and Jamichael Bowie, 26, to watch her daughter while she was gone. Catlett and Bowie arrived at the home a short time later. They both blamed each other for leaving the child alone, each claiming they left first and asked the other to watch the child. The girl was scared but uninjured. After an investigation, William Catlett, 47, and Jamichael Bowie, 26, were arrested on suspicion of felony child cruelty. William Catlett was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000. Jamichael Bowie was also arrested for investigation of possession of a dirk or dagger and suspicion of domestic violence, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
