Two men were arrested Friday, accused of breaking into a Twentynine Palms business Thursday night. According to a Sheriff’s report, a business owner in the 4900 block of Adobe Road reported that an incident at the business on Thursday caused damage to the exterior of the building, which prevented him from securing it at the end of the day. When he arrived at work about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, he discovered the cash register had been pried open and about $1,000 in cash was missing. After an investigation, deputies determined that an employee, Anthony Smith, 19, of Twentynine Palms, and a friend of his visiting from Idaho, Alberto Bravo, 20, were involved in the burglary. Bravo was located at a nearby motel with a mask and a large amount of cash consistent with what had been stolen from the business. Both Smith and Bravo are on felony probation. Anthony Smith and Alberto Bravo were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime and burglary, booked in the Morongo Basin Jail, with their bail set at $25,000 each.
