The Trump Administration plans to review the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan, a plan developed over many years to help protect and conserve millions of acres of desert lands. Representatives from the Bureau of Land Management will hold a public hearing tonight on the plan,
followed by panel discussion and opportunity for public comments on the plan. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details…
The BLM conservation plan, which helps protect and conserve approximately 10.8 million acres of both public land and desert ecosystems, is coming under federal review for potential changes. The proposed changes would open the land for the development of various industrial projects. The Bureau of Land Management will host a public scoping meeting tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. It will accept written comments only on the proposed federal amendments to the plan. Following the meeting will be a panel discussion with desert organizations for citizens to give oral comments that will be added to the public record. The meetings will take place at the Joshua Tree Community Center, located at 6171 Sunburst Street in Joshua Tree.
