Two local students will be attending United States Military Academy at West Point this fall. Paul Russell, a 2017 graduate of Yucca Valley High School, and Lindsey Scamman, a 2018 graduate of Twentynine Palms High School, were nominated to attend West Point by Congressman Paul Cook of Yucca Valley. West Point provides a full-ride, four-year scholarship for students who are studying to become officers in the U.S. Army. Russell took a year off after graduation and took part in a 200-hour drafting internship and attended one semester at Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree. Scamman was a star athlete in volleyball, basketball, and swimming at Twentynine Palms High School.
