Two Marine Corps spouses stationed at the Twentynine Palms Combat Center are competing for the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year. Online voting begins today and runs through Friday, February 7. The winner from each military base will then compete in a second round of voting for military branch. The winners of each branch will compete for Military Spouse of the Year, which will be announced at a gala in Washington, D.C., in May. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information about the two spouses who are competing…
Traci Wilson is competing for the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year for the second consecutive year; last year, she was named the Twentynine Palms Combat Center Spouse of the Year. Wilson is an advocate for education for both spouses and children, with an emphasis on special education.
The Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms is the first duty station for Joi Rogers, who married her Marine 2 ½ years ago, and she’s already been through two deployments. Rogers said it took her awhile to adjust to not only military life, but also life in the desert. She wants to encourage military spouses to share their struggles with depression, anxiety, and mental health.
