TWO LANDERS MEN ARRESTED WITH STOLEN, CONCLEAED HANDGUN

Two Landers men were arrested Wednesday after walking around inside Wal-Mart with a concealed and stolen handgun. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant D. Garvin, a Wal-Mart security employee called police just before 1 p.m. after watching Frank Hernandez, 25, give a handgun to Jacob Perez, 19, in the parking lot outside the store. Perez then concealed it under his clothing and walked into the store, where security continued to watch Perez as he visited different departments in the store. Deputies detained Perez as he left the store, and discovered a loaded .40-caliber Ruger handgun—later determined to be stolen—concealed in his pocket. Frank Hernandez and Jacob Perez were arrested for investigation of possession of stolen property. They were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with their bail set at $25,000 each. Sergeant Garvin said Wal-Mart security employees did an outstanding job of watching the men and reporting their actions to law enforcement.
