Two people were killed and two people were injured following a multi-vehicle crash in Yucca Valley Friday afternoon. According to Deputy Ryan Arthurton, at 2:07 p.m., a silver Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on the highway near La Honda Way, when for unknown reasons, the driver sideswiped a blue Chevy pick-up truck, also traveling eastbound on the highway. The Toyota started flipping and rolling over and landed on the roof of a white Lincoln, which had moved into the westbound left turn lane, and then bounced off. Both the driver of the Toyota, identified as Doreen Hollingsworth, 83, of Yucca Valley, and her passenger, 83-year-old Duane Griffin of Morongo Valley, were killed in the crash. A man and woman in the Lincoln received scrapes and abrasions and were taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The male driver of the Chevy pick-up truck was uninjured. Both east- and westbound lanes were closed during the Sheriff’s investigation, and did not re-open until about 9:30-10 p.m.
