Two of Joshua Tree National Park’s longest-serving staff members will retire this month. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details on the long-time contributions of these invaluable employees…

Human resource specialist Rebecca Patterson and park ranger Jimmy Pritchett will retire after over 30 years each at Joshua Tree National Park.

Pritchett began as a student aide, later converting to a permanent park ranger and serving as an Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor for the park.

Rebecca Patterson began as one of the founding members of the park search and rescue team, becoming part of the permanent staff as the human resource officer for the national park. Park Superintendent David Smith stated that their retirement will be a huge loss to the park, but that he was very lucky to have known and worked with both of them over the years.
