TWO INJURED, ONE ARRESTED, FOLLOWING DUI CRASH IN JOSHUA TREE FRIDAY

Two people were injured when an alleged drunk driver hit another vehicle in Joshua Tree Friday morning. According to Officer Jason Kobaly of the California Highway Patrol, Tina Johnson, 57, of Joshua Tree was driving her 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 westbound on Highway 62 near Whitefeather Road about 7:45 a.m. Stephanie Williams, 31, of Yucca Valley was also driving westbound on the highway when her 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe collided with the Dodge pick-up truck. Tina Johnson suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Stephanie Williams also suffered minor injuries, and she was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Kobaly said that Stephanie Williams was arrested for investigation of felony driving under the influence causing injury. Several lanes of the highway were closed while CHP officers were conducting their investigation.
