TWO INJURED IN LANDERS ROLLOVER CRASH SATURDAY

Two people were injured in a roll-over crash in Landers Saturday afternoon. Lucas Rhew, 19, of Banning, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Landers Lane north of Winters Road about 3:20 p.m. Ahead of Rhew was Richard Barrera, 46, of Yucca Valley, driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban and towing a Aztex trailer. The California Highway Patrol said that Barrera was making a left turn when Rhew drove the Silverado broadside into the Barrera’s Suburban. The Silverado rolled over, and Rhew and his passenger, Timothy Parker, 19, of Landers were injured and had to be extricated from the truck. The CHP said Parker sustained major trauma to his head and face; Rhew suffered minor injuries. Morongo Basin Ambulance transported Rhew to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs; Parker was flown to a trauma hospital.
