TWO FUND-RAISERS NET ABOUT $4,000 FOR REACH-OUT MORONGO BASIN

Reach Out Morongo Basin held two fund-raising events last weekend that raised about $4,000 for its Neighbors Helping Neighbors programs. The opening night gala last Friday for Theatre 29’s “The Little Mermaid” raised almost $2,500. Attendees were treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and a silent auction featuring art, photos, and gift baskets donated by supporters that raised additional funds for Reach Out. The entire run of “The Little Mermaid” was sold out before opening night. Overflow seating is now available for the show. Then on Sunday, a concert held by internationally acclaimed classical pianist Richard Bishop of Yucca Valley raised more than $1,500 for Reach Out Morongo Basin. Performing for a large crowd at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church in Yucca Valley, Bishop played works by Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Gershwin, and Chopin, which brought the crowd to their feet with applause. Proceeds from both events will go toward Reach Out’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors programs that help seniors and the disabled live healthy and independent lives.
