Area firefighters responded to two fires over the weekend. On Saturday, Yucca Mesa and Yucca Valley firefighters were called at 1:25 p.m. to a small mobile home fire in Landers in the 900 block of Juniper. Firefighters were on scene at 1:40 and had the fire out at 1:55 p.m. The cause is still under investigation.
Then on Monday just before 2 p.m., Joshua Tree firefighters responded to a vehicle fire near Lilac and Ornelas. County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle said the owner of a van had just left his home when it caught fire due to mechanical failure. The vehicle is a total loss.
