TWO DOGS AND ONE CAT DIE IN LANDERS FIRE

As firefighters were finishing their efforts in Joshua Tree, an additional report of a structure fire came in in the area of Belfield and Emerald Way in Landers at 1:47 p.m. Two fire engines and the Battalion Chief were able to respond to that fire. Upon arrival, a fifth wheel travel trailer was determined to be well involved with fire. All occupants were located safe outside. Heavy winds continued to thwart firefighting crews, threatening extension to nearby vegetation. The fire was confined to the area and property of origin. The fire was quickly brought under control. Two dogs and one cat did not survive the fire. Investigators continue to determine a cause and fire origin.
