Two backpack giveaways have been announced for one weekend in August.
The Morongo Unified School District will be distributing backpacks and food at an event at Joshua Tree Elementary on August 11.
This year, the annual event is in partnership with Joshua Tree Sportsman’s Club, Community Action Partnerships, Morongo Basin Healthcare District, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Unity Home, San Bernardino County and Joshua Tree Rotary, and will run from 9 a.m. to 12PM Noon.
Joshua Tree Elementary is located at 4950 Sunburst Ave. in Joshua Tree.
The second giveaway is put on by Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel and is set for the evening of August 13.
There will be fun and food along with the free backpacks from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel is located at 57373 Joshua Ln in Yucca Valley.
Both of these events are open to the entire community, but children must be present to receive a backpack.
