A Twentynine Palms man who allegedly tried to choke his fiancé was arrested early Sunday morning. Deputies were sent to the 73800 block of Sunnyslope Drive in Twentynine Palms about 2 a.m. Sunday morning for a domestic disturbance. The woman said that she and Rondre Brooks, 21, had been arguing when during the argument, Brooks started to choke her. She was able to push him away, but he got back on top of her and started choking her again before she managed to get away. Rondre Brooks was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and released later that morning on $50,000 bail.
A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Sunday, accused of beating up his wife. According to a Sheriff’s report, a woman in the 5400 block of Baileya Avenue in Twentynine Palms told deputies about 4:15 a.m. Sunday that her husband, Thomas Linton, 32, had assaulted her several hours earlier. Deputies saw that the victim had a black and swollen left eye, and a blood vessel in her eye had popped due to being choked. Thomas Linton was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
