Two people were arrested Tuesday morning following a high-speed pursuit. Just after 8 a.m., deputies attempted to stop a white Ford Explorer near Joshua Lane and Onaga Trail for having an expired registration. The driver, later identified as Nathan Brown, 33, of Yucca Valley, fled eastbound on Onaga Trail and Alta Loma Trail in excess of 85 miles per hour. Inside the SUV were Bronte Granell, 26, and another man. Deputies pursued the Explorer for several miles until Brown eventually stopped the SUV in the 7800 block of Outpost Road due to vehicle malfunctions. Granell and the other man inside the vehicle immediately surrendered to deputies; Brown fled on foot north toward Onago Trail where he was found hiding in a large tree in the area. Deputies searched the path of Brown’s foot pursuit, and inside the Explorer and found a large amount of methamphetamine, cash, and drug paraphernalia. Granell was also found to be in possession of a large quantity of suspected methamphetamines. A records check of Brown found that he was considered an armed and dangerous parolee at large.
Nathan Brown was arrested for investigation of felony evading and transportation and sales of methamphetamine, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held on a no-bail warrant. Bronte Granell was arrested for investigation of transporting a controlled substance, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and is also being held on a no-bail warrant.
