TWO ARRESTS AFTER TWO INCIDENTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Two Twentynine Palms men accused of felony spouse abuse were arrested in separate incidents Monday. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies were called about 12:20 a.m. early Monday morning for a report of a loud argument in the 6400 block of Desert Queen Avenue. Kiara Williams, 22, told deputies that her boyfriend was breaking items in the apartment and had pushed her into a wall. But because Williams had scratched his face with both hands, Kiara Williams was arrested on suspicion of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.

Then, just before 7 a.m., deputies were called to the Combat Center’s Naval Hospital concerning another domestic violence dispute. According to a Sheriff’s report, Valentin Rascon, 25, was arguing with his girlfriend in the 6600 block of Ocotillo Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 2 a.m. that morning. The woman told deputies that Rascon became upset with her over a Facebook friend request, threw her to the ground, straddled her and started choking her. The woman told deputies she was too afraid to leave until Rascon fell asleep about 5 a.m., at which time she grabbed her keys and called 911. Medical staff found contusions on the woman’s throat and knee. Valentin Rascon was arrested on suspicion of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
