TWO ARRESTED IN YUCCA VALLEY IN A CAR STOLEN FROM MORONGO VALLEY

Two people were arrested late Wednesday night after they were found in a stolen car. According to a Sheriff’s report, a records check of a vehicle sitting in a driveway in the 58500 block of Paxton Outer Highway in Yucca Valley about 8:40 a.m. showed the vehicle had been reported as stolen from Morongo Valley. While the deputy was detaining the driver, Joseph McLaughlin, 24, the passenger, Carissa Long, climbed into the driver’s seat and drove off in the vehicle. Long and the stolen car were later located in the 7700 block of Bannock Trail in Yucca Valley about 9:35 a.m. During a search of the vehicle, a cane sword, and a small amount of methamphetamine were found. Joseph McLaughlin and Carissa Long were arrested for investigation of possession of stolen property and possession of a sword cane; in addition, Long was also arrested on suspicion of transporting methamphetamine. They were both booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with their bail set at $50,000 each.
