TWO ARRESTED TRYING TO SMUGGLE DRUGS INTO THE JOSHUA TREE JAIL

A Yucca Valley woman was arrested Thursday, accused of smuggling drugs to an inmate during a jail visit. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Amy Simms, 43, was visiting with Brian Godden, 34, an inmate at the Morongo Basin Jail about 7 p.m. Thursday when Deputy Amanda Thomas noticed Simms sticking something through the security glass. Deputies removed Godden from the visiting room and during a search, they found several small straws containing methamphetamine on his person. Simms was also searched and more straws containing meth were found in her possession. Amy Simms and Brian Godden were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony and bringing narcotics into jail; they were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with their bail set at $25,000 each.
